1. Know the type of notarization needed.

Before asking your Notary for their services, you must know what kind of notarization is needed. Let your Notary know so they can help you more efficiently.

2. The document must be complete.

Your document must be 100% complete before being notarized. Do not leave any blank spaces on the document you are getting notarized, otherwise the document will be refused.

3. Bring acceptable identification.

Notaries must verify your identity as the document signer(s) as this is their primary duty. Driver's licenses and passports are acceptable for identification. If you do not have these, you must use "credible identifying sources", people who will swear to the notary that they know you. Your witness(es) must also have credible identification.

4. Name on ID must match name on document.

Your source of identification must match the name signed on the document. Your legal name must be used. If your identification source only has a maiden name, or other names, so must your signature.

5. Have all signers present for notarization.

Services and signing must be done in person to be officially recognized.

6. Be aware and willing to sign.

Notaries will not notarize if the signer(s) screening shows any unwillingness or unawareness of the document signing. The Notary will make clear the contents of the document to all signers and ask for willingness to sign.

7. Know what you will be paying.

Discuss with your mobile Notary signing agent prices before the Notary travels to your location.

Most documents can be signed. The only exceptions are vital records like birth, marriage, and death certificates. Notaries cannot make or certify copies of these records/documents. You must go to the government agency that issued said documents.
Yes. Notaries are held to a code, and will stick to it. They will not refuse you due to race, gender/sexual orientation, nationality, religion, politics, or status. Notaries are also not allowed to influence you in any way, shape, or form. They will only give you the information needed, and cannot urge you to choose one way of signing over another.
